6.8mm, 7.5mm, or 9.5mm laminated glass.

Light Transmission: 77% - 79%.

• Solar Energy (G-Value): 0.56 - 0.59.
• Reflection: 12%.
• Shading Coefficient: 0.64 - 0.68.

Acoustic Performance:

• Achieves 38dB (Rw) direct airborne sound insulation.

Snow and Wind Load Resistance:

• Tested to resist: Snow Loads: Up to 1200 N/m² and Wind Loads: Up to 1000 N/m².
• Not suitable for operation when snow accumulates on the top surface.

Safety Features:

• Laminated inner pane prevents falling glass in case of accidental breakage.
• Non-fragile design for enhanced safety.
• Avoid uneven heat build-up under the glass.
• If you add blinds to your access hatch, they should be light-coloured, positioned far from the glass, and allow for ventilation to reduce thermal stress.

Installation Guide

Non-Fragility and Safety Standards

The Brett Martin Flat Glass Access Hatch meets CWCT TN-67 non-fragility for Class 1 roofs* and ACR[M]001 Class B non-fragility when installed according to Brett Martin Daylight Systems’ guidelines. Glass panels comply with BS EN12150, BS 14449, and BS 1279. Foot traffic on the rooflights should be avoided as impacts may cause damage requiring replacement.

Access Control and Security

All units come with a key-operated isolator switch to prevent unauthorised operation during access. The glazed top is secured with self-drilling security screws, concealed by color-matched cover caps. Concealed hinges and actuators with a 4kN locking force ensure the hatch can only be operated from the inside.

Fire Performance

The glass is Class A to EN13501 part 1 and complies with BROOF(t4) classification under building regulations due to its 6mm toughened outer pane. It is included in the CWFT materials list as per European Commission Decision 96/603/EC.

Wind and Snow Resistance

The access hatch is tested to withstand wind loads as per BS EN 1991-1-4: 2005 and snow loads in accordance with BS EN 1873: 2005. It is not designed for operation when snow has accumulated on the surface.

The Brett Martin Flat Glass Access Hatch is designed to remain fit for purpose under normal industrial conditions for up to 20 years. A 10-year warranty is available, ensuring the product will not perforate, lose significant structural integrity, or distort to the extent of compromising weather-tightness.

The warranty also includes:

• Electrical Actuators: Covered for 1 year, with a design life of at least 10,000 cycles.
• Insulated Glass Units: Guaranteed for 5 years.

If you find any cracks in the glass upon delivery, please contact us right away. To be eligible for a return or replacement, it is important that any damage is reported within 12 hours of delivery. Promptly informing us of any issues ensures we can resolve them quickly and efficiently.
