To ensure accurate measurements for your blinds, please follow the steps below:
1. Measure the Opening: Start by measuring the width and height of your opening from plasterboard to plasterboard. It's important to measure both dimensions accurately to ensure a proper fit.
2. Check for Consistency: We advise measuring both sides of the opening to detect any variations. In instances where discrepancies occur—such as finding one side to be 550mm wide and the other 540mm wide always use the smaller measurement. This ensures the blinds will fit within the narrowest part of the opening.
3. Determine the Opening Size: Having followed the steps above, you have now determined the size of your opening.
4. Adjust for Clearance: After obtaining the opening size, subtract 10mm from both the width and height to provide the necessary clearance. For instance, if the opening measures 2000mm x 1000mm, you would then order a blind that measures 1990mm x 990mm.
Note, we provide a plastic lid that sticks to the plasterboard and goes around the edge of the blind to make sure there is no visible gap

Preparation: Each blind frame is already equipped with pre-drilled screw holes for your convenience.
1. Positioning Your Blind: Carefully hold and place the blind in the desired recess. Although we suggest positioning the blind 200mm below the glazing for a pleasing look, adjust this based on your preference.
Note: For flat roof installations, achieving a level position for your blind enhances appearance, though it is optional.
2. Marking Drill Points: While holding the blind steady, use a pencil to mark the wall through the frame's pre-drilled holes. This will indicate where you need to drill.
3. Drilling: Remove the blind and drill at the marked spots on your wall. Proceed to insert the appropriate rawlplugs into these holes.
4. Securing the Blind: Now, realign the blind with the drilled holes and fix it securely in place.
Note for Hardwired Models: Ensure the wire faces the glazing to maintain neatness and functionality and installed by a professional.
5. Finishing Touches: Apply the included trims around the blind to neatly cover any gaps. Prior to application, clean the corresponding surface areas with the provided wipe for optimal trim adhesion.

The following warranty is applicable to the Electric Blinds purchased from Lanterns Direct Ltd. The product(s) shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
This warranty covers a period of five years for the electric motor, and one year for parts and labour from the date of purchase. Please note this warranty does not cover damage caused by: Normal wear and tear, any misuse or abuse of the product(s), accidents, neglect, or unspecified modification or applications outside of the product’s intended purpose.

I purchased two large (3m x 1.8m) mains powered electric roof blinds from Lanterns Direct. The order process was straight forward and the service was good. I especially want to commend the helpful and invaluable advice received from Boiko both before and after purchase. His advice on how to measure the openings prior to submitting the dimensions during the order process was much appreciated. This was needed in our case because our openings have significant variations in width and height in all dimensions. In such cases the size of the blinds needs to be based on the smallest width and height for each opening less the requisite 10mm off each dimension. We are thankful to Boiko for highlighting this to us.
The blinds arrived assembled but due to their large size took some negotiating to get in our house and felt a little fragile doing so. They also come without any assembly instructions, however, I was sent a helpful video by Boiko which is also available on the website. Installation was relatively straight forward, however, for blinds of this size it requires at least two persons.
Once the first of the blinds was in place and connected to the mains outlet we hit a snag. The blinds would only open partially and then stall. By repeatedly attempting to close and open the blinds via the remote control it would progress a little further each time but not fully in either direction. At first we thought it might be a problem with the remote control or its battery and tried to resolve that. However, the information that comes with the control is sparse and we did find it very that helpful. We did find more comprehensive problem solving information online after searching but it didn't help in resolving the issue. Eventually after trial and error I figured out that the problem was being caused by the screws attaching the sides to the walls of the opening which were causing too much tension on the blinds. This was due to our opening being uneven in width along the length. Simply slackening off the screws enough to relieve that tension resolved the problem. It would have been helpful if this scenario was included in some basic assembly instructions/advice as it is one that others could encounter.
Lastly, I opted to purchase the Somfy smart controller as apart of my order. This device works in concert with the remote control to allow the opening and closing of the blinds from other devices such as smart phones or devices. I've configured routines on my Alexa device which should automatically open the blinds 15 minutes after sunrise and close them 15 minutes after sunset. I find this only operates some of the time. On occasions only one or other of the blinds will respond and sometimes neither I haven't figured out why this is yet. Otherwise I'm very happy with the blinds and an have no hesitation in recommending the product or the company. I think their blinds represent good value for money and the service so far has been good.
